Sure Thing

Slowly, I'm slipping out of vacation mode while try to build my life in Brooklyn. I've been living in the city for only 3 weeks now and spent the first couple of them indulging in many NY tourist attractions. On this particular day, I took a stroll on The High Line then walked about Riverside Park before to heading to a show. “Look at all those chickens!” I thought myself, replaying that viral vid of the little girl shouting that line while looking at a bunch of birds. As far as creatures in the city go, I seem to get along with the stray cats the best. Maybe it’s because my cat eye sunnies make me appear more cat-like to them and thus less intimidating..? Not sure if that theory holds true considering cats often times don't like to hang around their fellow felines. However, what I am sure of is that these frames are just too cool for school. The glasses paired with the velvet beret (which has practically become permanently attached to my head), asian print turtleneck and skort bring me back to the Y2K looks from shows, movies, and magazines I admired as a youngin'. It's really interesting how the more new surroundings and changes occur in my life, the more appealing I find popular styles during my childhood in the early 2000's. I wonder if my infatuation with retro styles, especially ones I grew up with, stems from a desire for comfort in the midst of  unfamiliarity. To some degree, the answer is "yes." On the other hand, I think the answer is "Who cares? Let's go roam around Time Square at 1:00 a.m. and drink Soju at a random Korean bar" (which is exactly what I did after these photos were taken).
