Lucy In the Sky

Growing up with a Beatlemanic of a father meant naturally adopting a fondness for The Beatles. It wasn't uncommon for family car rides to turn into Beatles listening sessions, accompained with trivia and quizzes on which Beatle wrote what song. I first heard "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" when I was 12. Man, it was unlike anything my little pre-teen self had ever heard and I adored it to bits. (If anyone is wondering out there, "Revolver" is actually my favorite Beatles album with SPLHCB coming in at a close second.) "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" captured my attention at first listen with its ethereal, "Alice in Wonderland" inspired lyrics. With all that in mind, I snatched this shirt the second I laid eyes on it. Especially paired up with this dream of a jacket from Dress Lily, this outfit brings back those Beatle listening memories, hitting me right in the feels.

"Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone"

Weirdo

We've all got a bit of a "weirdo" side amiright? Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, considering I thoroughly enjoy the smell of new carpet and I physically cannot wink for the life of me. With all that being said, I wouldn't say this my strangest outfit. However, it's by far my most "80's mall girl meets kooky highschool art teacher" look (I say that like I have so many lol). I noticed after editing the photos how many different shapes I got going on here- triangles in the skirt, circles on the belt, and then the swirly earrings. All that's missing is a rectangular accessory like a square crossbody bag and I got nearly all the shapes covered (Oh, and a red octagon infront of my face cuz I need to stop making dumb jokes).

Back To The Daily Grind

With a baseball jacket and satchel on my back, I'm finally back in school after a 3 year hiatus. Oddly, it seems like I never left (probably cuz community college feels a lot like high school). The best and only pleasant part about heading back to school as a kid was buying new clothes for the school year. Call it a weird "talent" but I can describe exactly what I wore for every first day of school I've ever experienced. Had this been what I wore for the first day of college, it woud have been my favorite out of all the outfits. This get-up *almost* makes me feel like I'm in a cheesy "back to school" Macys commecial but that's part of the reason why I adore it. Also, to me, the baseball jacket/ bolo tie combo offsets the commercialism of the overall ensemble a bit, because what weirdo does that other than me? (answer: maybe someone out there. If so, let's be friends!)
