Premonitory Dream

Is it just me or did 2016 feel like a giant premonitory dream? Except rather than warning us all about the awful occurances that would happen this year in our slumber, 2016 decided to hurl them at us out of the left field. I secretly find this unanimous agreement that this year was a sucky one to be a beautiful thing, like we're all unified by our unsatisfaction. Despite the doom and gloom of the current year, I believe there's always a bright side to discover, no matter how tiny it may be. On my bright side, there are rows of vineyards covered in orange tinted leaves. The weather is just chilly enough to wear a cozy cardigan but not so much so that I couldn't get away with walking around in tights and a sleeveless dress. On the horizon lies 2017, a year which holds a world's worth of potential (or at the very least, it won't be the fail whale that was 2016).

Special shoutout BangGood, an online ecommerce that carries a vast of array of cool products. Thank you for helping me complete this outfit with this adorable embroidered crossbody bag and concho choker that will seldom leave my neck in the upcoming year because it's just that cute.

Winter Beats

Back in highschool, pulling out the headphones after finishing first semester's finals was my favorite way to welcome Christmas break. Washing away the accumlated stress with some tunes served as a tremendous satisfaction. Now that I'm livin' that college life, this kick-off of winter break continues. This time I'm taking it up notch in this bedazzled 80's jacket resembling a decorated christmas tree whilst dancing in the streets like a mad woman. School girls vibes rage with my plaid skirt, tights and lace up boots but I, however, do not possess an ounce of rage within me. I'm too elated to have a month off from school so I can binge watch youtube vids guilt-free.
Also, Christmas is creepin' up too quickly for me and I'm hardcore slacking on preparing for the holiday (what can I say, I'm too busy dealing with the temptation of buying pretty dresses). As a plant-based eater, I'm usually left to my own devices in terms of cooking (especially during the holidays when everything is drenched in butter). Thankfully, StyleWe complied a list of amazing vegan recipes for a holiday feast. Whether you are a fellow veg head or a meat eater, click here to check it out- your taste buds will thank you!

Diagonals

For a holiday work party, I sported this stripe-on-stripe number because I needed double dosage of my favorite classic pattern. Interesting fact about stripes that I recently learned: During the European Middle Ages, striped clothing indicated social deviance. Criminals, court jesters, and hangmen were all required to wear the print (but hey, at least they faced their fates lookin' stylish). I set out to incorporate a sense of mischief with look as I kept this tidbit in mind. My second source of outfit inspo traces back to the French beauty, Brigitte Bardot, who slayed stripes all throughout the 60's. Truthfully, I could wear stripes everyday and feel perfectly content (can't promise I"ll refrain from doing that because I don't know where to draw the line).

Crave

Just another monochrome Monday. In this ensemble, I roam the streets of a Christmasfied town decorated in tinsle, lights and wreaths. Usually I embrace the holiday cheer with arms wide open. At the moment, I can't help but crave a different time, a different place. Give me a week and I will probably be gung-ho about the Christmas season. For now, I'm cool with observing from the sidelines.

If U C My Enemies

Writing this post on thanksgiving, feeling equal parts gratitude and raditude. As I rack my brain for words to describe this outfit, I can't help but reflect on all the times I felt stuck at a brick wall this past year. Luckily, I was able to climb every over obstacle and make it to the other side. Just kidding- many of those brick dividers still loom over me. But you know what they say- when life plants walls in front of you, graffiti them! Instead of graffitiing the walls with paint, clothing is my medium of choice. Vibrant fabrics and loud patterns, topped with some punchy jewels, all make those metaphorical and literal stacks of bricks easier to face. Call it a sideshow, but I rather think of it as a fashion show that distracts me from all of life's drab moments (in other words, "stylish pragmatic escapism").

The Stars Are Falling On Me

Mixing prints used to leave me with mixed feelings. Nowadays my adoration for clashing bold prints is undeniable, as I frequently find myself in my closet coupling them together
Miraculously, the weather has been cooling down *just* enough to break-out my favorite graphic sweater for pairing with ornate patterns- this cardigan from StyleWe. I thank my lucky stars that I have this cozy, cute knit sweater to brighten up my current sad and small sweater collection. Hopefully I'll live somewhere someday that'll give me reasons to grow my winter wardrobe as a whole because everyone knows fall/winter fashion is the best kind.
"How do I get there from here
I want to go
The stars are falling on me
Nobody knows"
