Bring me to Shore

Everyday that I have off from work is a struggle to not drive to the ocean. All I want to do is just laze about on the sand with a good book in hand, waves crashing in the background as the salty breeze runs through my hair. When the closest beach is 45 min away, sadly, most days I have to turn down a date with the sea. Soul crushing I know, but I've got a small solution: if I can't go hit the beach, I can at least bring a little bit of the beach spirit with my wardorbe choices. That's where this super gorgeous New Dress halter/short set comes into the picture. All the different shades of blue in this summery two-piece resemble the ripples in the ocean. The white, decorative border also makes me think of the sand on the beach. And as for the elephants, well, I've never personally elephants on the beach but it could happen,maybe...right? Well the point is, even when I'm stuck with  vineyard scenery instead of sea imagery, I've got some beachy vibes going on in my outfit to make up for it (and without the sunburn that almost inevitably comes along with spending the day at the shore so hollaaaa).

En Gallop

Have you ever listened to a song that you've adored for years and one day the lyrics strike a chord with you out of nowhere? That happened to me last week when "En Gallop" by Joanna Newsom played in my car as I drove home from work during the most breath-taking sunset. It was the one that goes, "Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism." I rarely read poetry or anything non-fiction yet in that moment, I realized I was guilty of what she had warned against. I latch onto ideas and concepts that I find interesting. I get caught up in principals because in my gut they feel right, but I admit that I have no clue if they'd work in practice. Sometimes I lose myself in the abstract,  drifting me away from the truth. In the past year, I have been making a concious effort to form beliefs based off of logic, reason, and data when possible. But the urge to explore "what if" rather than "what is" can be unbearably strong. I'm sure it's possible for the head and heart coincide. I guess I'm still figuring out how to get to that place. This song and my thoughts that branched from it lingered in my mind as I put together this outfit. With the white+gold scheme and angelic silhouette, I'm calling this my "I'm a text-book daydreamer that is on the road to reality" look.

Lexinfleurs Takes on Youtube!

That's right! Along with blogging my outfits on here, I'm going to be uploading fashion-related videos as well as some videos on healthy living. Here is my first vid in which I chat more about what I plan to do with the new channel and share 25 random facts about me, just as a fun, little ice-breaker. If you guys have any suggestions as to what kinds of videos you'd loved to see me do, please feel free to leave it in the comments below! I'm very stoked to try this vlogging thing out- let's see where it goes! <3

The Offbeat

My love for cats is no secret so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I am a fan of anything cheetah/tiger/leopard printed. That's why it takes a lot out of me to wear anything other than this gem of a Minkpink dress lately. I mean, to have not one, not two, but all three of those animal patterns arranged perfectly into one dress? Count me in! So far, I've worn it to work, running errands, a local recycled fashion show, and probably several other occasions I'm forgetting. Accessorizing  this wild dress with tribal pieces like this wooden animal necklace I scored on a thrifting adventure and this vintage, cheetah head scarf is as close as I can get to doing this magical frock justice. Look out world, Lexi's on the prowl now. *meow*
