Summer is Done with Us

Only kidding, the summer just got started but I'm already over it. You'd think my tolerance for heat would be higher taking into account that I've dealt with 20 horribly hot summers in my life. But I don't want to be a complete downer, so I'm gonna turn to the bright side of these upcoming, sweltering summer days...*tumble weed rolls by* Well, not much to see there. Guess I'll head back into my closet and distract myself with some clothes. Hey,I totally forgot I still had these shorts! Ahhh, they remind me of all the things I'd bleach when I was 13 (pants, t-shirts, backpacks, my hair...). I couldn't sew or do anything that involved skill back then so throwing bleach on stuff was my "art" of choice. Oh and check this out- this lacey longsleeve is the only top in my wardrobe that'll work with them! Throw on some big ol' earrings, a few other jewels, and my beloveded Frye boots I can't stop wearing and bam- I can leave the house! Even though I'm probably gonna melt before I get anywhere. At least I look cute, and life is too short to wear boring outfits.

Eastern Green

During my most recent getaway, I spent the day in this flower-power-esque outfit in an adorable, historic town named Smithville. Whenever I'm in New Jersey it's a must-visit  for me. Strolling down the wooden bridge overlooking the water makes me feel like I'm in Frontierland (Which is hands-down my favorite land in Disneyland). Along with the gorgeous lake and luscious foliage shown in the pics below, the town is filled with tons of cute boutiques that I could spend all day window shopping in. I just can't help but gush about the place- every little detail about it leaves me smiling like a moron. To tie this back to my outfit, I've realized if I'm getting dressed for somewhere I already adore, I subconsciously tend to go for super bright, cheery colors and patterns. I suppose I was all sunshine and flowers here, in the literal and figurative sense.

So much greenery in this scenery <3
Aren't these li' chickens bea-uuutiful? They kept looking at me like "Take a picture, it'll last longer" so that's exactly what I did.
Til next time, Smithville♥

Wish for Bridges

Hey there lovely readers, long time no talk! I'm back in the golden coast now and I've got a couple looks to share from my East coast trip as promised so here's outfit number for y'all:
Usually I'm guilty of cramming my suitcase with one too many pairs of shoes/articles of clothing when I travel (and don't even get me started on the 5 pounds of jewlery I haul with me lol) This time however, I overcompensated and packed a weeks worth of outfits for two weeks, totally unware of how little I had with me until I arrived at my destination. The situation actually turned out to be a kinda fun challenge like "how many different outfits can I cook up with a limited amount of pieces?" Tops like this crochet one really came in handy since I could throw it ontop of crop top with a pair of jeans or layer it over a dress like I did here. It all worked out in the end although I did go thrifting with some friends in this ensemble and bought more clothes than I should have. So much for my effort to pack lightly, oops!
